Course Description

Alliant International University is a private university based in Southern California with campuses located in Los Angeles and San Diego. Alliant International University was formed from the merger of three legacy institutions: San Francisco Law School founded in 1909, United States International University (USIU) founded in 1927, and the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) founded in 1969. In 2001, USIU and CSPP merged, forming Alliant International University with San Francisco Law School (SFLS) joining in 2010. From 1909 through today, one constant among these institutions has been a legacy of empowerment and impact. Alliant International University has kept the tradition of employing noteworthy faculty and graduating students dedicated to making a difference. Alliant currently offers programs affiliated with their California School of Management and Leadership. The California School of Management and Leadership (CMSL) is a business management school that trains students to have a competitive edge in technology and quantitative fields. With CMSL’s management and leadership degrees, students can learn to lead and mentor the next generation of professionals into the ever-expanding arena of business. A degree from CSML can help students make their mark locally, nationally, and globally. Become an innovative leader at technology-driven businesses with a business degree from CMSL. Alliant’s traditions of internationalism and multiculturalism are foundational to their public service mission. Alliant’s faculty are dedicated to professional education and training, applied scholarship, multicultural competence, and community service. This professional practice orientation is the basis of academic programs, student support, as well as other institutional activities including alliances with large corporations, management consulting activities at the School of Management and Leadership, and the School of Education’s work efforts to help teachers and children in the classroom. Alliant’s graduate and undergraduate students provide thousands of hours of community service annually, much of it to underserved populations, in the communities in which their campuses are located. Alliant faculty members conduct research in fields that are relevant and urgent including school violence, hate crimes, and child abuse, and trauma. Alliant is committed to advancing fields of knowledge through the highest standards of excellence and academic rigor in their teaching and research. From the bluffs of Del Mar to the beaches of Coronado, San Diego is often referred to as America’s finest city for good reason. It’s San Diego naval base, scenic coastlines, unbeatable weather, and unique dining experiences are just a few of the factors that drive a significant majority of the approximate 1200 graduate students and 150 undergraduate students to begin their careers and call San Diego home upon graduating. As a noted biotechnological, medical, and military hub, Alliant International University - San Diego college students have a plethora of internship and career opportunities to choose from. Nestled between the beaches and mountains, Alliant’s San Diego college rests upon the tree-lined hillside of Scripps Ranch. Conveniently situated just off the I-15, students can take a short drive to explore either the beach, downtown, or the mountains. The expansive San Diego campus hosts several classroom buildings, with typically small class sizes, MacDonald Hall, the University Student Center, and the newly renovated Walter library. It also boasts campus-wide Wi-Fi, two computer labs, video conference facilities, conference rooms, and scenic study areas. Such amenities ensure that Alliant students have all the tools they need to succeed academically.
